Kaithal , December 7
The Municipal Council demolished encroachments at Palki Bazar near Bhagat Singh Chowk here today. A heavy police force was deployed in the area to prevent any protest.
The operation was launched under the supervision of Duty Magistrate and Tehsildar Rakesh Kumar.
The MC had reportedly served notices on shopkeepers to remove encroachments. Some of them did so on their own.
Birjesh Hooda, building inspector, MC, said some shopkeepers had complained of illegal constructions on November 10. Notices were served and a week was given for removing the constructions. — OC
