Gurgaon, April 30

A 23-year-old engineer committed suicide here due to depression, the police said. The deceased, identified as Ravi Verma of Khubru village near Ganaur in Sonepat district, was working with a private firm in Sector-3 of Manesar’s Industrial Model Township (IMT).

According to the police, Ravi, who was living in a rented flat in IMT’s Sector-1, returned from his office on Friday evening while his roommate went to work in the night shift.

“Ravi’s roommate on Saturday returned from his work and found the main door locked from inside. Later, the door was broken and deceased was found hanging from a ceiling fan,” said Investigating Officer Vijaypal.

The officer said the deceased had left a suicide note, saying, “I love you Maa, I am in depression, I am going.” He was the son of Rajender Verma Khubru, a well-known cartoonist of the state who works with a national Hindi daily.

The body was handed over to family members after post-mortem.—IANS
