Sirsa, May 22

Enraged at the state government’s show cause notice for their removal from jobs, hundreds of guest teachers today held demonstration in Sirsa today and raised anti-government slogans.

The guest teachers went to the RRS office at Vivekanand Bhawan in Sirsa to hold the protest, but the building was locked, so they returned after pasting a memorandum of their on its gate.

Hundreds of guest teachers assembled at the Town Park in the afternoon as the news of the government issuing a show cause notice spread. The teachers, including a large number of women, marched towards the RSS Bhawan near Subhash Chowk under the scorching sun.

The teachers alleged the BJP government was going back from its pre-poll promises and after assuring them of regularisation of jobs, the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government was out to oust them from jobs.

Radha Krishan Jhorar, district president of the Guest Teachers’ Association, said on one hand the government said it wanted to resolve their problems, but on the other they had been served a 24-hour notice for their removal.

“We will continue our agitation till the government accepts our demands and regularises our services. We will not sit back even if we have to lose our lives,” Jhorar said.

Protest outside Bhiwani MP’s residence

Following the decision of the state government to remove guest teachers, scores of affected teachers staged a protest outside Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP Dharambir Singh’s residence.

Demanding regularisation of jobs, the protesters demanded that the elected MP from here should support their demand and voice their concerns to the state government.

They also reiterated their demand to convert their religion if their demands were not honoured.

Meanwhile, Sarv Karamchari Sangh leader Shakti Singh said they would support the guest teachers in their state-wide protest on May 26.

Kaithal: The agitating guest teachers today took out a protest march and burnt an effigy of the Haryana Financial Commissioner, Education, TC Gupta on the Udham Singh chowk in Cheeka town of the district.
