Farmers who had sold their mustard crop at the Jhajjar grain market on April 16 and 17 finally received the payment on Monday.

As per the rules, the payment should have been done within 72 hours of procurement. However, it was transferred into their bank accounts this afternoon.

'The Tribune' had highlighted the issue in its columns recently. Naveen Pandit, a farmer from Kot village, said, "I received a credit message from the bank on my cellphone this afternoon. I had to skip the installment of my loan due to the delay in the payment. I was facing hardships in making both ends meet. I thank the publication for highlighting the issue which helped in getting the payment released.”

Narender Kumar, president of the Commission Agents’ Association, Jhajjar grain market, said, “I have also received the market fee deposited at the time of procurement."

The market fee is deposited by the representative of commission agents on the latter's behalf.

District Food and Supply Controller Ashok Sharma said the payment was being transferred into the farmers' bank accounts.
