Kurukshetra, November 27

A fire in a compartment of the Kalka-Howrah train was reported in the wee hours of Tuesday. The incident took place near Dhirpur railway station. The train was going towards Delhi.

Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner SS Phulia said five people, including two children, were admitted to a private hospital. They didn’t suffer any injuries but complained of uneasiness due to smoke in the compartment, the DC said.

Railway traffic on the Ambala-Delhi route was partially suspended and was later restored.

The DC said it was a minor fire and the railway authorities were taking stock of the situation.
