Gurugram, May 22
Hundreds of Metro commuters from Gurugram are waiting for May 29 when the Janakpuri West-Kalkaji Mandir section of Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line will be inaugurated.
With this, travelling time between Noida and Gurugram will reduce from two-and-a-half hours to just 50 minutes.
The new section will incorporate two new interchange facilities — one at Janakpuri West (Blue Line) and the other at Hauz Khas (Yellow Line).
“The new line will be a boon for many like me. I work in an IT company in Noida and spend four hours in commuting. With no other convenient and fast mode of transport, Metro is the only option,” said software engineer Aastha Pachauri from here.
Hundreds of people, especially those employed in the IT sector, commute between Gurugram and Noida, and change trains at Rajiv Chowk. They will bypass Rajiv Chowk after May 29.
The line will also provide direct connectivity from Noida to the IGI Airport as the domestic terminals will also be directly connected by the Metro.
The 25.6-km-long corridor will be inaugurated from Nehru Enclave Metro station. Of the 25.6-km-long section, 23 km are underground.
