Gannaur civic body chief ousted

Gannaur Municipal Committee chairman Sat Prakash Sharma was removed today as a no-confidence motion was passed by a two-thirds majority.

Jitender Kumar, SDM, said 12 out of 17 members voted against the chairman during the meeting.

The SDM said the proceedings would be sent to the government and date for the election of chairman decided by the government.

The outgoing chairman, who was supported by the Congress, alleged that Sonepat MP Ramesh Kaushik conspired to oust him. The MP said the chairman was ousted by members and not him.
