Gastroenteritis in Y’nagar village, 75 fall ill

At least 27 persons suffering from acute gastroenteritis were admitted to a camp set up by the health authorities at Talakaur village in the district.

According to information, 15-20 people had complained of diarrhoea and vomiting on Monday. When more residents of the village complained about the disease, sarpanch Gulshan Kumar informed the health authorities.

On getting information, a team of doctors led by officiating civil surgeon Dr Vijay Dahiya reached the village on Tuesday morning.

Dr Dahiya said that they set up a camp in the village and treated 75 patients suffering from acute gastroenteritis.

“Out of the 75 patients, 27 were admitted and the rest were sent back after giving them medicines,” said Dr Dahiya.

He said that the camp was set up to give quick treatment to the patients. He said an ambulance was also stationed in the village to meet any emergency call.

“The patients will be kept in the camp till they recover. The doctors and other staff will stay in the village,” said Dr Dahiya.

He said that residents of three streets in the village were affected adve

rsely by the disease. “Besides setting up a camp, our teams visited 215 houses and distributed 2,000 tablets of halogin and 150 packets of ORS,” said Dr Dahiya.

“Water of one of the three tubewells in the village was contaminated. Therefore, water supply from the tubewell was stopped,” said Dr Dahiya.
