The daughter of a security official at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) allegedly committed suicide by shooting herself with her father’s revolver at their house on the university campus here on Saturday.

Rupesh (22) was reportedly perturbed over not getting admitted to the MSc (chemistry) course at the university as she could not clear the entrance test for the same.

The girl’s family members rushed her to the local PGIMS soon after she shot herself in the head, but she could not be saved. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

In a suicide note, the girl has apologised to her parents and stated that she was taking the extreme step as she could not get what she desired despite putting in hard work.
