Hisar: Girl students of Government High School in Bidola village of Tosham subdivision in Bhiwani district today locked the main gate demanding upgrade of the school to the senior secondary level. The girls said that they had to travel to another village nearly 9 km away from their village. They also had to walk for 2 km to reach the bus stop in the village. A large number of girls had failed to pursue their senior secondary studies after matriculation due to distance of the school from the village, they said. The school presently has 176 students. Teaching staff of the school informed the higher education authorities about the lock up. Later, Block Education Officer Narender Yadav reached the village and assured the girls that a proposal for upgrade of the school would be submitted to the state government. TNS
