Six industrial units face closure for violating the pollution control norms in the district.

The Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has sealed 15 units, including 13 ‘petha’ units in Badagaon village, in the past 20 days. The board swung into action following complaints filed by residents at the Chief Minister’s Window.

Sources in the CM Window office said several complaints had been received regarding polluting industries. The complaints were sent to the departments concerned by the DC office for necessary action, they said.

The board had sealed the 13 units after people living in the vicinity of Badagaon approached the CM Window and stated that the ‘petha’ units located in the village were producing air and water pollution, said Sanjeev Budhiraja, Regional Officer, HSPCB.

After inquiring into two more complaints received at the CM Window, they had sealed one hot-mix plant located on the Kohand-Munak road and a bottle-cleaning plant in the Ram Nagar area for contributing to pollution, he said.

He said the board had also given permission to shut six more units, including two in Gharaunda, three mechanical component units on the Ranwar road and one unit in Malikpur.
