Pollution clearance: State govt set to increase validity period for industries

CHANDIGARH: As part of its ease-of-doing business initiative under the Enterprise Promotion Policy-2015, the Haryana Government proposes to double the validity period of clearances being given by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to entrepreneurs for setting up industries.

As part of its ease-of-doing business initiative under the Enterprise Promotion Policy-2015, the Haryana Government proposes to double the validity period of clearances being given by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) to entrepreneurs for setting up industries.

Capt. Abhimanyu, Industries and Commerce Minister, said with this decision the entrepreneurs would not have to visit the HSPCB at short intervals.

Capt Abhimanyu added entrepreneurs had to take clearance from the pollution board for setting up industries. He said the government was going to increase the clearance period of industries falling in the red category from two years to five years and those in the orange category from three years to 10 years.

The Technical Advisory Committee of the HSPCB had approved this draft which would now be presented at the board’s meeting on September 29. In compliance with the directions of the Chief Minister, the government was not only working on the policy of providing maximum facilities to entrepreneurs but had also adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Earlier, the state government had provided big relief to industrial units using boilers by allowing self-certification. This decision benefited about 2,000 industrial units. Besides, the government also made C-Form available online for the convenience of businessmen.

Pollution clearance validity

Currently, the industries falling in the red category get clearance for two years whereas those in the orange category for three years. The state government proposes to increase the clearance period of industries falling in the red category from two years to five years and those in the orange category from three years to 10 years.
