Govt appeasing builders: Kiran

CHANDIGARH: Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhry today took umbrage at the shifting stand of the state government on Aravallis.

Chandigarh, December 7

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Kiran Choudhry today took umbrage at the shifting stand of the state government on Aravallis.

“The government’s latest attempt to again verify land falling under Aravallis is directed to appease the lobby of builders and developers at the cost of the environment,” she said in a press note.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, at a recent meeting of the National Capital Regional Planning Board in New Delhi, said the government would verify land falling under Aravallis and compare the findings with revenue records and satellite maps of 2014 to identify natural conservation zones in the NCR. Kiran said why the government didn’t refer to the 2005 satellite maps since major construction activities had taken place in Aravallis since then to find out the ground situation. — TNS
