Mahendragarh, January 28

Frequent visits by government officials to Mahendragarh district to explore the possibility of setting up a multi-modal logistics hub have brought cheer to local residents.

Industry and Town and Planning Department officials have inspected various villages of Mahendragarh thrice in the past month in connection with the project. Another team of officials led by Finance Commissioner (Industries) Devender Singh visited several villages of Ateli and Nangal Choudhary Assembly segments on Sunday to examine the ground reality.

“A survey has been conducted to find out distance between proposed Mumbai-Delhi Industrial Corridor and logistics hub, accessibility of road transport from the National Highway and availability of water, electricity and non-agriculture land,” said a team member. He said the team would submit its report to the state government that would take the final call on setting up the project.

The multi-modal logistics hub was to be established in Rewari district. The government had to drop the plan after farmers refused to part with their land unless given compensation of Rs2 crore an acre for their acquired land.

Officials had visited Mahendragarh on January 11 and December 27 last year after 20 village panchayats of Mahendragarh approached the state government with 4,700 acres common land for the project.

“We are confident of getting the mega project to the area. The project will usher in a new era of development in the backward Mahendragarh district,” said Subhash Yadav of Ateli town.
