Govt plans 2 schemes to provide land to industry

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today that the state government was preparing two schemes to make land available for entrepreneurs to establish industries and provide source of income to villages.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today that the state government was preparing two schemes to make land available for entrepreneurs to establish industries and provide source of income to villages.

The Chief Minister said this during a press conference here today.

The Chief Minister said after identifying land for projects, the state government would approach the farmers and offer to purchase their land.

“Over one lakh acres of gram panchayat land is lying underutilised in the state. We are preparing a scheme to give this land to entrepreneurs on long lease through auction,” said the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister said emphasis was being laid on developing places of religious and historical significance, such as Kurukshetra, as tourism destinations. Efforts are being made to showcase Haryana as a weekend tourism destination to attract visitors from Delhi and other places.

“We are also looking into possibilities of developing recreation parks and biodiversity parks, besides promoting and showcasing unique techniques of art and culture on the pattern of wax museum in Hong Kong,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister said five memoranda of understanding signed during his visit to Singapore and Hong Kong, would not only garner an investment of Rs 18,000 crore but also provide employment to about 10,000 youth.
