CHANDIGARH: The state government today announced one per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of all its employees on the eve of Diwali.

Chandigarh, October 18

The state government today announced one per cent increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) of all its employees on the eve of Diwali. The additional installment of the allowance will be paid in cash to employees with October’s salary.

Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said the move would put an additional financial burden of Rs 86.25 crore on the state exchequer.

The government has also decided that the rate of DA for employees, who draw their pay in the pre-revised pay-band as per the Sixth Pay Commission, has been enhanced from the existing rate of 136 per cent to 139 per cent. This would put an additional financial burden of Rs 579.54 lakh, he said. The increase would come into effect from July 1.—PTI

Diet money of cops hiked

The Haryana Police has enhanced daily diet money being given to police sportspersons during tournaments and camps from Rs 50 to Rs 150.

A spokesman of the Police Department said the state government had taken significant initiatives to provide maximum facilities and incentives to the sportspersons so that they could bring laurels to the state and nation in different sports events.

The spokesman said the hike in daily diet money would not only encourage the morale of police players but also increase the possibility of winning medals in the games.

Director General of Police BS Sandhu also extended good wishes on the auspicious occasion of Diwali to the police officers and people of the state. He urged them to celebrate cracker-free Diwali this year.—TNS
