Govt to promote industry in Kaithal, says Khattar

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said here today that Kaithal is ahead in agriculture, but lagged behind in industry. The government would take effective steps to promote setting up industries in the area, he added.

He was addressing a press conference on the second day of his visit here. Hence, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana will prove to be a boon for the farmers as it provides compensation for crop loss. Also, farmers will be compensated for low yield by the insurance companies,” he said. Grain markets were equipped with all amenities hence farmers from other states also sell their crops in Haryana, he added.

The state government had provided compensation of Rs 2,400 to farmers during the past years and it surpassed the compensation awarded during the last 48 years by any other government.

Haryana was paying the highest sugarcane price to the farmers and Maharana Partap Horticulture University would be set up in Karnal. The government had taken number of steps to promote dairy farming, beekeeping, poultry and fish farming.

Later, the Chief Minister attended a function organised by the Punjabi community here. He said he did not enter politics to enjoy power but to serve people. He was fully satisfied with the performance of his government during his tenure. The shortage of canal water and fertilisers was a thing of the past and now these were available to farmers in plenty.

The CM also inspected the first modern archives centre set up here to maintain revenue records.

Public representatives denied entry into college 

A number of sarpanches were not allowed to enter the RKSD College hall where the Chief Minister addressed sarpanches and other public representatives. Led by Gajjan Singh, president of the District Sarpanches Association, they protested outside the college and raised slogans against the administration, police and the BJP after the Chief Minister left the venue. Gulab Singh of Paharpur village, brother–in law of sarpanch Komal, said he wanted to submit a representation to the CM about the sale of drugs in their village. Gulab Singh also objected to Siwan SHO Ranbir’s behaviour and filed a complaint against him.
