Gurgaon, August 30
The Gurgaon Municipal Corporation has drawn flak from the Chief Minister’s office for failing to clear 234 out of 299 complaints received through the CM window so far. The civic agency has been issued a notice to explain why these complaints received between December 26, 2014 and August 25 this year were not cleared and 59 out of 65 complaints which were resolved were not done in the stipulated time.
The notice also sought an answer to the fact that 24 such grievances where senior officials handed over the job of redressing complaints to junior officials were left for want of action. A majority of these complaints pertained to the removal of encroachments, illegal mobile towers and guest houses, water supply issues, slow progress of development works and pending clearances. The CM’s office has sent a notice to the Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Gurgaon (MCG), and officials in the planning, engineering, sanitation and accounts wings. The officials have been ordered to redress the pending grievances at the earliest.
The MCG officials responsible for attending to the complaints have been warned of disciplinary action if the complaints are not redressed in a time-bound manner.
MCG Commissioner Vikas Gupta has called a meeting in this regard next week to seek an explanation from the officers concerned.
“Yes, we have got the notice, but the complaints were not kept pending intentionally. We have a limited workforce and were busy with other important issues such as completing the development projects. The CM window gave people the freedom to report their woes pertaining to the issues as small as increased pavements in their neighbourhood. We don’t deny that we will work on them but it’s not humanly possible to resolve over 200 complaints and carry on with our regular work within 10 days of stipulated time. We will apprise the CM’s office of the situation,” said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
