Make-up artist 'can enhance' only outter beauty

Chandigarh: Bollywood make-up artist Subhash Shinde, who has worked for actresses like Sridevi, Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Sushmita Sen among others, recently attended a beauty seminar at Sirsa.

Chandigarh: Bollywood make-up artist Subhash Shinde, who has worked for actresses like Sridevi, Manisha Koirala, Aishwarya Rai, Priyanka Chopra, Sushmita Sen among others, recently attended a beauty seminar at Sirsa. He is  known for providing peculiar looks to actresses Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra in their films Sarabjit and Mary Kom, respectively. Shinde said beauty was the gift of nature to Indian women who were considered most beautiful in the world. A make-up artist could only provide external beauty, added Shinde. Sunita from Hisar was adjudged the winner while Monica (Hisar) and Mohini (Sirsa) were declared the first and second runners-up, respectively in a make-up competition organised for local artists on the occasion. Beauticians Hina Bajaj, Rachna Arora, Dimple Seth, Yadu Sharma and Cyrus Mathews were the jury members.


Farmer's daughter does Kaithal proud 

KAITHAL: Gurmeet of MDN Public school, Kalayat, has topped Kaithal district in the science stream by securing 485 marks out of 500 in the plus two examination results declared on Friday. Her father, Surinder Singh, a small farmer with just six acres of land, said he was proud of his daughter who daily travelled 14 km to Kalayat to attend school . Not only this, she also helped him in his farm, said the proud father. Gurmeet said she wanted to be an engineer before competing for the civil services.  In the arts stream, Sanju Devi of Shiv Senior Secondary School, Badsikri Khurd, secured 478 marks and got the first position in Kaithal. Rinku of  Govt Senior Secondary School, Kithana, topped the district in the commerce stream . 


CM releases MDU don's book on women’s plight 

REWARI: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar accompanied by Union Minister Rao Inderjit and Haryana Ministers-Rao Narbir and Rambilas Sharma-released a book “Amaltaas Ke Phool” written by Dr Anjana Garg at Indira Gandhi University (IGU) in Meerpur recently.The book, a collection of 120 short stories in Hindi is based on women's kindness, their sufferings and tolerance, difficulties of old age, caste behavior and social evils like corruption, gender inequality and orthodox mentality towards girls etc. The Haryana Sahitya Akademi has chosen this book for its 'protsahan yojana'. Anjana, a professor in Public Administration Department at MDU, Rohtak,  is also serving as Director, Haryana Study Centre at MDU. She has so far written over 200 short stories and 350 articles on various social and political issues in various regional and national newspapers. She has presented over 130 research papers in national and international conferences.


K’shetra Admn to help make Sarsa Wi-Fi village

Kurukshetra: The district administration has pledged support to a project aimed at making Sarsa in Kurukshetra a Wi-Fi village. During the maiden Sanjha Kadam, an initiative of the district administration for one-stop solution to the rural population, the Sarsa gram panchayat was also assured help in installing CCTV cameras. Sumedha Kataria, Deputy Commissioner, said the administration would also help the panchayat in various others development activities. Officials from 30 departments were present at Sarsa during the maiden Sanjha Kadam initiative early this week to address issues like making driving licences and enrolment in various welfare schemes and Aadhaar.  Kataria said more such day-long camps would be organised at regular intervals.
