Chandigarh January 19

Four persons have died due to swine flu and 14 have tested positive for the virus in Haryana since January 1.

The state Health Department has dispatched stocks of Tamiflu to all districts for patients suffering from swine flu after deaths were reported from Faridabad, Hisar, Jind and Fatehabad.

Adequate stocks of Tamiflu have been made available and isolation wards have been set up in all hospitals of the state, said Haryana Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Ram Niwas, after a video conference with all civil surgeons of the state today.

He issued instructions to the civil surgeons to take precautionary measures to check the spread of this virus and to tackle swine flu cases in the state. He said there was no need to panic as the situation was “well under control”. Ram Niwas urged people suffering from high fever,

cough, cold and breathing problem to report to their nearest health centre as these can be possible symptoms of swine flu.

He said in view of the prevailing cold wave conditions and fog, those suffering from any disease or having low immunity, elderly and children should not go out for morning walk as the virus is active at that time.

He said parents have also been advised not to send their children to school if they show any symptoms of swine flu. School principals have also been requested to grant leave to such children, he said.
