Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said the state government would urge the Centre for early execution of the Supreme Court order on the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal so that Haryana could get its rightful share in the river waters.
While addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone of a new cooperative sugar mill here, Khattar said the present government had ensured speedy hearing of the case in the Supreme Court which was lying pending for years.
The Supreme Court had given its decision in favour of Haryana, he said, adding that since the matter now rested with the Centre, the state government would request it for early execution of the decision. “I am sure the farmers and people of the state will get their due share of water through the SYL canal,” he said.
