Haryanvi singer Harshita Dahiya shot dead in Panipat village

PANIPAT: Harshita Dahiya, a Haryanvi singer, was shot dead on Tuesday evening while she was on way to her home in a car after a programme at Chamrara village in Israna block of the district.

Harshita Dahiya, a Haryanvi singer, was shot dead on Tuesday evening while she was on way to her home in a car after a programme at Chamrara village in Israna block of the district.

The assailants who came in a car fired 5-6 bullets at her before fleeing the spot.

Harshita (22), a resident of Nahra-Nahri village of Sonepat district, was presently living in Narela of Delhi. She was on way to her home at around 4.15 pm when the incident occurred.

She was accompanied by a male singer, Pradeep of Rathdhana village of Sonepat district, one Nisha of Ballabgarh identified as “her assistant” besides car driver Sandeep, a resident of Gumar village in Sonepat district.  When they reached between Chamrara and Kakoda villages, a black-coloured car overtook their vehicle and made it to stop.

As per information, two youths came out of the car and forced male singer, driver and the other girl out of the car and started firing at Harshita's forehead. After pumping 5-6 bullets into her, the assailants escaped from the spot.

The police have recovered five blank cartridges from the spot and also recovered evidences from the spot.

Superintendent of Police Rahul Sharma along with DSP Deshraj and a FSL team visited the spot.

The body of the deceased singer has been sent to the mortuary at general hospital.

As per sources, Harshita had got life threat and she disclosed about it on social media and on Youtube through a live video. She had said in the video that she was not afraid of anyone.

SP Rahul Sharma said a case has been registered under Sections 302, 34 of IPC and 25,54,59 of Arms Act against unknown accused on the complaint of Pradeep.

“Nothing can be said as of now on the cause of the murder and the number of assailants. The teams are on the job to verify all aspects of the crime,” he added.
