Health team arrests tout involved in sex determination test

A joint health team of Karnal and Jind districts arrested a tout allegedly involved in getting sex determination test of a decoy in Assandh on Thursday night.

The team members also recovered Rs 22,000 from the tout given by the decoy. However, the team members did not find any direct involvement of the hospital situated in Assandh, but found several violations of the PCPNDT Act at the ultrasound centre and sealed the machine.

Giving details, Dr Yogesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon, said that on a tip-off that a tout was active for getting the sex determination test, a joint team of Karnal and Jind districts arranged a woman decoy.

The decoy approached the tout who later took her to Assandh. After getting her ultrasound done, he told the woman that she was having a baby boy, Dr Sharma said.

Later, the joint team, with the help of police, arrested tout Mahinder, a resident of Alewa in Jind district. A case has been registered against him.
