High alert after terror Intel inputs

Chandigarh, June 23

The police have been put on high alert in the state following inputs from central intelligence agencies that at least nine terrorists, at least three of them women, have entered Delhi and mandated to carry out terror attacks between June 20 and 30.

The police have also been told to maintain vigil at crowded places, places of worship, railway stations, busy markets, bus stands, air strips, metros and vulnerable points.

Ram Niwas, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), has ordered all Police Commissioners, SPs, SP (Railways), Ambala Cantt, to take preventive measures to ensure no untoward incident takes place.

Earlier Haryana had received input from central agencies 10 days ago that an armed LeT module was planning to infiltrate Punjab, most probably from the Gurdaspur-Pathankot belt on the Pak border, for carrying out terrorist attacks in India.

Sources said the terrorists could target security forces camps or other important installations a few days before or after Id-ul-Fitr falling on June 26.—TNS
