The police may also question Ram Rahim, who is presently lodged in Sunaria Jail of Rohtak to serve 20-year imprisonment awarded to him for the rape of two former sadhvis (female followers), to inquire about the possible hideouts of Honeypreet.

Haryana Director-General of Police BS Sandhu on Saturday visited Sirsa and Fatehabad to review the progress of investigation in the FIRs registered in the district in connection with violence after Ram Rahim’s conviction on August 25.

Accompanied by ADGP (Law and Order) Mohammad Akil, Sandhu chaired a meeting of DSPs and Commandants of paramilitary forces deployed in Sirsa.

“I have held discussions with the officers about measures being taken to ensure that law and order situation remains under control in the coming days,” Sandhu said after the meeting.

He said that Haryana Police have issued alert for the arrest of Honeypreet at the international level.

Answering a question on Honeypreet’s ex-husband Vishwas Gupta, Sandhu said that the Panchkula Commissioner of Police had called him to his office.

However, Gupta has not given any complaint to the police so far.

“The police have so far arrested 1,100 persons in the state in connection with the dera violence. In Sirsa, the police have so far arrested 44 persons,” said Sandhu.

Answering a question on interrogation of Ram Rahim, Sandhu said that police investigations were moving in the right directions till now, but if need arises, the police can quiz him in Sunaria Jail.

When his attention was drawn towards the presence of some police commandos during police raids at Ram Rahim’s native village Gurusar Modia in Rajasthan and reports that some are presently with Honeypreet, Sandhu said if any cop of Haryana Police was found involved, stern action would be taken against him.

Sandhu praised the police and district authorities in Sirsa to have handled the situation well.
