Karnal, April 28
The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) handed over the maintenance of 14 sectors to the Municipal Corporation (MC) today.
Ashwini Malik, Executive Officer, HUDA, along with Executive Engineers and Sub-Divisonal Officers, handed over the record of the sectors to MC Commissioner Sumedha Kataria. The MC House cleared the dock to transfer these sectors earlier this month.
The MC would now look into the maintenance, including water supply, sewerage, storm water, streetlight, roads, horticulture services, and sanitation of these sectors from May 1, said Kataria.
She said Sectors 12 (part-1), 32, 33 and Transport Nagar would remain with HUDA and the ownership of unsold sites, including residential, institutional and commercial, would continue to be with HUDA.
Kataria said HUDA would collect recoveries such as extensions and transfer and 75 per cent of it would be remitted to the MC by the 15th of every month. Water charges, sewerage charges, property taxes and others would be recovered by the MC, she added.
Councillors against bringing HUDA sectors under Panipat Municipal Corporation
Panipat: BJP and Congress councillors are opposing move to bring the sectors developed by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in the ambit of the local Municipal Corporation (MC). Only seven councillors, including the Mayor, were present at the meeting called by the MC Commissioner today to discuss the proposed move, while the rest chose to boycott. Suresh Verma, mayor, said, “The meeting had been postponed as the quorum of the house was not complete.” While the councillors lamented the plan would further burden the MC already grappling with staff crunch, MC officials said the move would help boost its income.
