In a sensational twist regarding a blind murder investigation, the SIT headed by DSP Rajiv Kumar found it unearthed a double murder.

Both were murdered after being looted by four persons. One of the accused has surrendered in the court, while the police have arrested the remaining three accused.

The police have yet to recover the looted amount and the weapon used in the crime.

The deceased have been identified as Ram Mukut, of Thana Kalan, Sonepat district, whose body was found buried under a pathway between the fields of Salaru and Darad villages on January 5, and Ashok Kumar, of the same village, whose body was recovered from a canal near Saffidon in Jind district on January 18.

Ram Mukut was a driver of a truck, while Ashok was a cleaner, said Rajiv Kumar, DSP.

While interacting with media persons here at Sadar police station, the DSP said that after the recovery of the body on January 5, Sadar police have registered a case on the complaint of Palwinder Singh, Sarpanch Salaru village, under Section 302, 201 of the IPC.

The Superintendent of Police, Jashandeep Singh Randhawa, constituted SIT, which started investigation in the vicinity where the body was buried.

Meanwhile, the police came to know about a missing person from the village after the investigation started, he said, adding that the police started the search about the whereabouts of the missing person, who later surrendered in the courts on January 17.

The accused was identified as Jai Kumar, a resident of Darad village, who was taken in six day police remand.

He confessed to his crime and revealed that he along with his accomplices had looted Rs 95,000 and murdered both the driver and cleaner after intoxicating them with liquor on December 27, the DSP said.

They buried the body of the driver under the pathway of Darad and Salaru village, while they dumped the body of cleaner in a canal, he said.

The DSP said that they have also arrested a minor on January 20 from Darad village, who was later sent to correctional home, Ambala.

Two another accused, including Soni and Gurvinder Singh, both the residents of Darad village, have been arrested today from Meerut road.

Both would be produced in the court tomorrow to get them on police remand as the police have to recover the looted amount, weapon and vehicle used in the crime.
