Hisar, June 18

INLD MP Dushyant Chautala has alleged that the state government has failed to take note of his grievance about water shortage in several villages of the Adampur and Nalwa Assembly segments of the district.

Dushyant said though Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar talks about diverting waters flowing to Pakistan, he remained mum on the issue of the completion of the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal for equitable distribution of existing waters to Haryana.

“The INLD will organise a ‘jail bharo’ programme in Hisar on June 22 when thousands of party workers will court arrest to press for the construction of the SYL canal,” he said.

Dushyant said he had written to the state government to resolve the perennial problem of water shortage in the villages of the Adampur and Nalwa Assembly segments. “The government seems to be unconcerned about the hardships people are facing. I have tried to improve the condition by providing water tankers in villages where the shortage has worsened this summer,” he claimed.

He said he used MPLAD funds to provide water tankers in Charnond, Dahima, Rawalwas Khurd, Bheria, Shahpur, Dhani Jatan, Talwandi Rukka and Bhojran villages. Several villages in Hisar district are also facing water shortage as they are located at canal tail-end.
