Karnal, March 30

Thousands of selected JBT teachers, who were demanding their joining letters, lifted their dharna today, after they were assured by CM Manohar Lal Khattar to look into their demands.

A seven-member delegation reached Chandigarh with OSD to CM Amrinder Singh to meet Khattar, late Sunday night. “The meeting with the CM lasted for a long time, in which we informed him that 9,870 candidates had not been issued joining letters even after getting selected as primary teachers (JBT). They had even cleared the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET),” said Rajinder Sharma, state president, Patra Adhyapak Sangh.

“The CM’s response was positive and he assured us to start the joining process of these selected candidates,” Sharma said.

Addressing the gathering at the Sector-33 ground in Karnal, Sharma said they told Khattar about the stay on the joining of the candidates by the Punjab and Haryana High Court and requested him (CM) to order the concerned officials to present the case effectively in the court, so the stay could be lifted.

“The next date of the case in the court is April 20 and they would wait for the government report in the court. If they were not satisfied with the report of the government, they would decide their future strategy on April 21,” the state president informed the gathering.
