The district police have purchased thousands of glass marbles and hundreds of slingshots to maintain law and order in the district. The Akhil Bhartiya Adarsh Jat Mahasabha (ABAJM) has called a state-level mahapanchat at Narwana tomorrow to decide the future course of action for reservation in the government jobs.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Jorwal today checked the efficiency of policemen in using slingshots at the Police Lines and told them that guns and bullets must be the last option to tackle any problem.

The district police have constituted four companies of well-trained policemen to tackle any law and order problem. The members of the companies have been given special training to avoid the use of guns and instead use slingshots with glass balls.

“On the directions of senior officials, we have given special training to the policemen to use slingshots during clashes with teargas shells to avoid any casualty. Guns and bullets should be the last option,” said the SP.

The police earned the ire of the state government and the Jats after three boys were killed in clashes between the Jats and the police during the last agitation of the Jat community for reservation in the district, sources said.

Members of the ABAJM led by Dr Pawanjit Banwala gave final touches to the mahapanchayat preparations.
