Kajala khap to ostracise those involved in rape, female foeticide

The Kajala khap panchayat has decided to socially boycott persons indulging in rape and female foeticide in its 82 villages in Haryana, 195 villages in Rajasthan, 26 in Uttar Pradesh, 17 in Punjab and nine in Delhi.

The decision was taken in a national convention of the khap held at Jat Dharamsala here on Sunday. Former MLA from Julana Surajbhan Kajal, who is the national president of Kajala khap, chaired the convention.

The panchayat unanimously passed a resolution stating that it would stop ‘hooka paani’ of the rapist and people indulging in female foeticide in their villages. It was also decided that the persons who would organise DJ programmes on any function will be penalised by Rs 11,000.

The khap has also demanded an amendment in the Hindu Marriage Act for making illegal marriages in same gotra and same village. The panchayat demanded ban on vulgar advertisements on any type of media source besides a ban on use of polythene in all over the country.

Former MLA Surajbhan said, “The panchayat has decided to eradicate social evils from the society as they are hollowing society. These decisions were taken after long discussions with people in the villages, who had given their consent on taking these steps against these evils.”

He said that the khap members were concerned over the declining number of girls in society, so they have decided to boycott socially to person involved in female foeticide.

“We have taken the decision to impose fine on the use of DJs for stopping the extravagance during different occasions and for checking noise pollution.

The members of the khap will keep a vigil on such crimes in their villages. When they convinced about the occurrence of the incident and the involvement of a person, the khap will ostracise the person involved, the national president asserted.

He said that they were against honour killing and favour inter-caste marriages.

National convener of Kajala khap launched the website of the khap www.kajlakhap.in and said “we would keep updating it regularly with the issues related to the khap”.

State president Rajmal Kajal urged other khaps to join hand with the farmers against the amendment in land acquisition act made by the government.
