Karnal-Ladwa road to be widened in 2 years: CM

KARNAL: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of the Karnal-Indri-Ladwa road here today. He said the project would be completed in a phased manner in two years.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of the Karnal-Indri-Ladwa road here today. He said the project would be completed in a phased manner in two years.

In the first phase, the Karnal-Indri road would be widened. The road connects Karnal, Kurukshetra and Yamunanagar districts due to which it has been witnessing regular congestion and fatal accidents. People have been demanding widening of the road for many years. Khattar, after becoming Chief Minister, had announced the four-laning of the road.

“At present, the width of the road is around 10 m, which would be around 20 m after the completion of the project,” said Dalel Singh, XEN, PWD B&R. “The department has shortlisted a company and in the first phase, 19.5-km of road from Karnal to Indri will be constructed at a cost of Rs 86.43 crore. The company has to complete the project by June 9, 2019,” he added.

The Forest Department in the process to axe more than 500 trees, said sources.
