Karnal has reported 140 malaria and one confirmed and 12 suspected dengue cases this season.
The confirmed case of dengue was reported from Pritampura Colony, where Rajbir (42) was tested positive for dengue.
The Health Department has also collected blood samples of 12 persons having symptoms of dengue.
Sources said two suspected dengue cases were still under observation at Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College Hospital, while others were being treated at private hospitals.
Civil Surgeon Anita Aggarwal said necessary steps were being taken to check the breeding of mosquitoes.
The department has formed a special team for conducting door-to-door surveillance in various localities to identify persons with fever and to check mosquitoes breeding.
She said they found larva of Aides mosquitoes in coolers, water tanks and other utensils lying in the open in Azad Nagar, Ward number 11, Shiv Colony and other parts of the city.
She said the department wrote to the Municipal Commissioner urging him to ask the officers concerned to clean up overflowing drainages in the city.
“I urge the people to maintain cleanliness to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes,” she said.
