Kurukshetra, November 10

Ajmer Singh, an old cobbler at Shahabad Markanda town in the district, had an unforgettable meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday afternoon.

As the CM’s cavalcade was leaving for Chandigarh after offering condolences to a BJP leader on his mother’s death at Shahabad, Khattar suddenly noticed the cobbler.

He alighted from the car to know why he was working while sitting on the floor on a cold day.

Ajmer told Khattar that after his son’s death, he had no means of livelihood.

On being questioned further, Ajmer said he also had the responsibility of two grandchildren.

In a humane gesture, Khattar announced a sum of Rs 50,000 grant from CM’s discretionary quota.

He also directed the Deputy Commissioner to provide a kiosk to Ajmer at Shahabad and ensure education to both his grandchildren.
