Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has said Adampur’s Congress MLA Kuldeep Bishnoi has disgraced his father and former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal and thus he is not a true inheritor of the former CM’s political legacy.

Taking on Kuldeep without naming him in his political stronghold Adampur Assembly segment in the district on Sunday, Khattar said that the BJP wanted to project Bhajan Lal as the chief ministerial candidate during 2009 Assembly elections when his son (Kuldeep) parted ways with the Congress and tied up with the BJP. “But his son rejected our proposal while insisting that he and not his father be projected as the CM candidate,” Khattar said, while addressing gatherings in two villages of Adampur Assembly segment during his ‘Mahagram Sampark Abhiyan’.

“He though claims to be a well-wisher of the local residents and promised them to raise their issues in the Assembly. But, his presence in the Assembly sessions is just 20 per cent which shows his lack of seriousness and immaturity. He seems to be busy with his foreign jaunts. Definitely, he cannot be a ‘sapoot’ (a good son) of a good man like Bhajan Lal,” Khattar said and added that he had spoilt the name and fame earned by his father.

The CM also lambasted his political rivals, including the Congress and the INLD, while stating that both had been symbolised with corruption in governance. “We have been taking pro-people measures and have been successful in taking on corruption especially in recruitment in government jobs and pensions and there is no regionalism in carrying out development activities,” he said.

Late in the evening, he visited Balsamand village where residents raised the issue of water scarcity in several villages of the district. Jal Sangarsh Samiti chief Kurda Ram Nambardar said that the CM had promised to take effective measures to overcome the shortage of water in the region.
