Rao Inderjit, Union Minister of State for Defence, said here today that the state government would not acquire land for the logistic hub project without the consent of farmers. The project for which 3,600 acres was acquired earlier would now be established over 1200 acres.

Addressing a party workers’ meeting organised by local MLA Om Prakash Yadav at Chitwan Vatika, the minister slammed opposition parties for describing the BJP as an ‘anti-farmer’ party. The Ahir leader said it was for the first time when any government had returned to farmers 3,600 acres of land acquired for a development project.

The minister said the BJP government quashed the acquisition after the farmers refused to part with their land for the logistic hub that earlier was to be established in the Bawal industrial area (Rewari)

Without naming the previous Congress government, Rao Inderjit said around 20,000 acres of land was acquired across the nation during the last decade. As much as 6,500 acres of land was acquired forcibly in Haryana against the farmers’ wishes but the BJP government had cancelled the land acquisition on the demand of farmers.

Earlier, the minister called upon the party leaders and workers to remain united for getting their area developed. “If we are united, no hurdle can come in the way of overall development of our area which was ignored by the previous government. We will get water, electricity and jobs as well if we work together by setting a common target,” said Inderjit.

Ram Bilas Sharma does not attend the meeting

Education Minister and Mahendragarh MLA Ram Bilas Sharma did not attend the workers’ meeting while Bhiwani-Mahendragarh MP Dharambir Singh and other MLAs of the district - Santosh Yadav (Ateli), Om Prakash Yadav (Narnaul) and Abhay Singh Yadav (Nangal Choudhary)-- were present Bawal MLA Banwari Lal and Pataudi MLA Bimla Choudhary also addressed the gathering.
