Mid-day meal workers today protested near the Mini-Secretariat here in support of their demands, including minimum salary of Rs 18,000 per month.

They assembled at Karan Park and from there, they took out a protest march towards the Mini-Secretariat. They handed over a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Karnal MP Ashwini Chopra to Naib Tehsildar Raj Baksh Arora. Shimla Devi, district president of the workers, said that they had raised their demands at various platforms, but to no avail.

They were demanding a minimum salary of Rs 18,000 per month, 180-day maternity leave, permanent jobs and fresh meal for children in schools.
