Hisar, May 22

Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain today faced flak from members of various local bodies after a verbal spat with the Chairman of the Narwana MC over cleanliness issue.

The minister was presiding over a divisional level workshop for MC members of Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind, Bhiwani and Dadri towns, when she entered into an argument over cleanliness with the Narwana MC Chairman. She reportedly irked the chairman by inquiring about his monthly honorarium. This annoyed the MC members present at the meeting who told the minister they were being remunerated for work and the government was not doing any favour by providing them honorarium. Later, the minister asked them not to take her comment in a negative way. Meanwhile, Ashok Bansal, commissioner, MC, placated the members. The MC members then raised the issue of cleanliness, staff shortage, etc with the minister.
