Member of Parliament Ashwini Chopra today reached the residence of Sepoy Pargat Singh, who was killed in the Keri sector in Rajouri district during ceasefire violation last month, to express condolences. Accompanied by Jagmohan Anand, district president of the BJP, he assured the family of assistance.
Reacting to the demand from villagers of financial help from the Union government to the family as Pargat Singh the was sole breadwinner of the family, the MP assured them that he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing help to them.
“I will meet the Prime Minister for help to the family as Pargat Singh laid his life for the country,” the MP said. “I can understand the grief. We are proud of Pargat Singh. He was a brave person. I will always be available for help for the family,” he assured them.
Meanwhile, a cricket tournament was held in the village today in memory of Pargat Singh. Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karandev Kamboj paid tribute to the martyr and announced that the stadium in Ramba village would be named after the martyr.
