Rohtak, November 28
Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda has asked the BJP government in Haryana to start work on the Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line project. The MP had staged dharnas at Hansi and Meham in protest against the delay in starting the project.
The Rohtak-Meham-Hansi railway line project involving an estimated expenditure of Rs 577 crore was sanctioned by the Planning Commission and the Haryana Government in November,2011. The project was approved in the 2012-13 Union Rail Budget. A sum of Rs 385 crore was allocated for the project the foundation stone of which was laid by then Union Minister Mallikarjun Kharge at Hansi on July 28, 2013, Deepender said. The process for land acquisition for the project was initiated in 2013.
The Congress leader stated that the BJP government had not been able to execute even the projects sanctioned during previous UPA regime headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Though the Rs 3,500-crore Rail Coach Factory at Gohana and the Railway bypass for Rohtak was approved in the 2013-14 Union Railway Budget, the work on these projects was yet to begin, the MP maintained.
