Murder of 3 siblings: Uncle to undergo polygraph test

The Kurukshetra police want a polygraph test to be done on Jagdeep Malik to unearth truth behind the sensational murder of three young children of his cousin early this week. Jagdeep was arrested for allegedly killing his two nephews and a niece with a gun from pointblank in the Morni forest range in Panchkula on Sunday.

The initial police version was that Jagdeep’s cousin Sonu Malik, father of the victims, wanted his children to be killed as he was allegedly having an extramarital affair. The Kurukshetra police retrieved the bodies of Sameer (11), Simran (8) and Samar (3) on Tuesday last. Jagdeep told the police about the spots where he had dumped the bodies in the forest area, about 110 km from their Sarsa village in Kurukshetra. As the police had detained Sonu, he was not allowed to perform the last rites of his children at their native place on Wednesday.

SP Abshishek Garg told The Tribune today that Jagdeep tried to mislead the police during interrogation.

He said Sonu was still to be arrested and a police team was scrutinising his role in the three murders.

“Initially, Jagdeep claimed that he killed the three children at the behest of his cousin Sonu. However, later he started claiming that he committed the crime to grab Sonu’s property. Jagdeep will be subjected to a polygraph test to know the truth,” added the SP. The district police had earlier stated that the murders could be a fallout of the extramarital affair Sonu was having with a Himachal Pradesh woman. However, the SP said the police were also probing the case from the property angle being the reason for the murders. Meanwhile, police sources said Sonu had been detained to ascertain his movement in the last few days. They added the police were trying to obtain information about the Himachal Pradesh woman, who is allegedly having a relationship with Sonu.
