Nabard sanctions Rs 119-crore loan for Haryana

CHANDIGARH: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned a loan of about Rs 119 crore to construct seven bridges and improvement of a rural road project in five districts of Haryana.

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned a loan of about Rs 119 crore to construct seven bridges and improvement of a rural road project in five districts of Haryana.

Under rural bridges and road project, construction of seven bridges and a road would be undertaken in Ambala, Panchkula, Sonepat, Yamunanagar and Panipat districts involving RIDF (Rural Infrastructure Development Fund) loan of Rs 28.25 crore, the official spokesperson said.

Besides, the loan has been sanctioned for construction of 167 government veterinary hospitals and dispensaries in all districts and a drinking water supply project in Rewari district.

The implementation of the project will provide better connectivity in rural Haryana and is expected to generate about 2.71 lakh workdays of non-recurring employment during implementation, he said.

Besides, the project will directly benefit 46 villages and provide farmers access to 18 marketing centres.

He said Nabard had also sanctioned a project for augmentation of a Rural Drinking Water Supply Schemes in Rewari district, involving an RIDF loan of Rs 37.71 crore.

The implementation of the project would result in better and safe drinking water facilities to 14 villages of Rewari district, the spokesman said.

The project is expected to generate about 1.16 lakh workdays of non-recurring employment during implementation, he added.

Similarly, Nabard has also sanctioned construction of 52 government veterinary hospitals and 115 veterinary dispensaries in all 22 districts of the state.

The main objective of construction of buildings of the veterinary institutions was to provide a better working environment for the staff for quality delivery of veterinary services to the farmers or villagers, he said.

The project involves RIDF loan of Rs 53.29 crore and will benefit more than 167 villages and will generate non-recurring employment of 8.35 lakh work days, he said.

With this sanction, the cumulative RIDF assistance sanctioned to the Haryana government under RIDF had reached Rs 5,972.41 crore and an amount of Rs 4,284.55 crore had been disbursed till September 20, 2017, he said. PTI
