New ZP, Panchayats sworn in

KARNAL:Newly-elected members of Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis of the state were sworn in on Friday.

Karnal, February 12

Newly-elected members of Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis of the state were sworn in on Friday.

Chief Minister Monaohra Khattar also announced that the government had increased salaries Zilla Parishand and Panchayat Samiti members.

Panchayat Samitis members will now get Rs 1,600 a month, up from previous Rs 1,250; vice-chairmen will receive Rs 3,500 (from Rs 2,500) and chairmen will get Rs (7,500) up from Rs 6,000.

Members of Zilla Parishad will receive Rs 3,000 a month (from Rs 2,500 previously); vice-chairmen will get Rs 7,500 (from Rs 6,00) and chairmen will get Rs 10,000 (previously Rs 7,500). 

The chief minister also told the newly-elected local bodies to work without bias.
