The state government has decided to allow a concession of 50 per cent in the fares of Haryana Roadways buses to senior citizens on even inter-state travel. But this facility can be availed of by procuring e-ticket through Aadhaar-based biometric identification system.
Besides, Haryana will be the first state where passengers availing of any concession in bus fares will have to procure e-ticket through Aadhaar-based biometric identification. This will ensure that the facilities are not misused. The scheme will be implemented in the next four months.
This was informed at a meeting of the Transport Department presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here today. Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar attended the meeting.
The Chief Minister said 50 per cent concession in bus fare was already being given to men aged 65 years and above and women aged 60 years and above for intra-state travel in the buses of Haryana Roadways.
He directed the officers concerned to abolish the bus pass service of the Haryana Roadways for the staff of the Chief Minister and other ministers.
