One killed, six injured as car collides with van

KARNAL: One person was killed, while six were injured as a car collided with a van near Uchana village on Saturday evening on the national highway.

One person was killed, while six were injured as a car collided with a van near Uchana village on Saturday evening on the national highway.

The deceased has been identified as Bunty (40), a resident of Bulandhshahar (UP), while the identifications of the injured are yet to be ascertained, said Manoj Kumar, SHO, Sadar.

He said that Bunty was driving the van and five other persons were travelling in it. They were coming from Chandigarh side, while the car driver was going towards Chandigarh.

When the car reached the bank of Western Yamuna Canal, its tyre burst and collided with the van coming from the other side of the road after crossing the divider, the SHO said.

Bunty was declared dead by the doctors, while five boarding the van and the car driver are among the injured, he added.

After this incident, a long traffic jam was witnessed by the commuters and the police had to work hard to regulate the traffic.
