General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Training College here is yet to start functioning as it is yet to get the required infrastructure and staff.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar inaugurated the college on August 13. It had been set up at a cost of Rs 9 crore on the premises of the local Civil Hospital.

Sources in the Health Department say several queries are being received every day for admission to the GNM course, but the officials concerned are unable to guide the aspirants when the college will start functioning.

“The college must have started functioning from the date of its inauguration, but it has no teaching and training staff and other infrastructure, including furniture and other equipment, needed to run the institution,” says an official.

The building was constructed during the regime of the previous Congress government, says local Congress MLA Karan Dalal. He adds it can harm the interests of a large number of youths who want to make a career in this field.

Dr Aditya Swaroop Gupta, CMO, says the matter has been taken up with the higher authorities. He, however, adds that there is still uncertainty about the date of admission.
