Part of stage collapses during INLD-BSP stir

A part of the dais collapsed due to overload during the ‘jail bharo’ agitation jointly organised by the INLD and the BSP here on Tuesday. However, no one was injured in the incident that took place when Leader of Opposition Abhay Chautala along with other leaders was on the stage.

While addressing a gathering, Abhay accused the BJP government of trying to intimidate those who wished to participate in the agitation. The agitation was organised by the INLD and the BSP to pressurise the Central Government to complete construction of the SYL canal in accordance with the directives of the Supreme Court.

“Like the previous Congress government, the BJP governments at the Centre and in the state are making excuses to delay the completion of the canal despite the Supreme Court judgment in favour of Haryana,” he said. — TNS
