PM’s efforts made Yoga Day global event: CM

INDRI (KARNAL): A large number of people celebrated International Yoga Day at various programmes held at Indri here today. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to turn the day into a global event. He said several countries across the world now celebrate the day by organising various events.

A large number of people celebrated International Yoga Day at various programmes held at Indri here today. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to turn the day into a global event. He said several countries across the world now celebrate the day by organising various events.

“It was due to the efforts of our Prime Minister that the United Nations was encouraged to declare June 21 as International Yoga Day. I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this achievement,” said Khattar while addressing an event to mark International Yoga Day at the Indri grain market.

He was accompanied by Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj, Karnal Municipal Corporation Mayor Renu Bala Gupta, volunteers of Patanjali and BJP leaders. They along with students of various schools, bureaucrats and city residents performed various yoga asanas.

The Chief Minister urged people to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives as it reduces the stress level and helps in attaining peace of mind. He said yoga connects the body with the mind and makes it stable.

Yogshalas had to be started at the village level to promote yoga while a gurukul and a Sanskrit university and colleges were also being set up in the state, he added.

“Land has been finalised for the construction of a Sanskrit university at Mundri in Kaithal and a Sanskrit college is also being established at Mansa Devi,” he said. Later, Khattar inaugurated the science building of Government College, Matak Majri, Indri.

Meanwhile, in Gharaunda, HAFED chairman and local MLA Harvinder Kalyan performed yoga with hundreds of residents. Similarly, in Nilokheri, MLA Bhagwan Dass Kabirpanthi along with residents and volunteers performed yoga.

Rewari, Jhajjar join in

Rewari: International Yoga Day was celebrated in Jhajjar and Rewari with enthusiasm. People from all walks of life attended the programmes and performed yoga.

Public Health Minister Banwari Lal was the chief guest at a function in Rao Tularam park in Rewari city while Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Chander Bidhan was the chief guest at the programme organised on the new bus stand campus in Jhajjar city.

Over 3,000 take part

Yamunanagar: A district-level programme to mark International Yoga Day was organised at Tejli Stadium here. Deputy Commissioner Rohtash Singh Kharb said around 3,000 people participated in the district-level event.

On the occasion, Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Das, Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kalia, Jagadhri SDM Bharat Bhushan Kaushik, DDPO Gagandeep Singh along with other officers and politicians performed yoga. Meanwhile, Dr Shailesh Kapoor, principal of Mukand Lal National College, Yamunanagar, said Yoga Day was celebrated on the college campus with full Joy and excitement. Besides, the day was also celebrated at the JMIETI, Radaur; Seth Jai Prakash Polytechnic, Damla; Government Adarsh Sanskrti Senior Secondary School, Bilaspur; District Jail, Jagadhri; Agrasen College, Jagadhri; and DAV College for Girls, Yamunanagar.

Enthusiasts given tips

Kaithal: Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts, including officials, children and women, celebrated International Yoga Day at the indoor stadium of RKSD College here. Amar Ravish, local head of Patanjali Yog Mahila Samiti, and Acharya Ram Charan of Bharat Swabhi Maan Trust gave yoga tips to the participants. Chief guest Bakhsheesh Singh Virk, Chief Parliamentary Secretary, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Baba Ramdev for their efforts to promote yoga. Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Joon asked people to make yoga part of their daily routine for maintaining good health.

A tough task

Participants performed various yoga asanas in rhythm by bending, twisting and stretching their bodies. However, under the standard protocol of yoga asanas, CM Manohar Lal Khattar was unable to perform some of the difficult steps while Minister of State for Food and Supplies Karan Dev Kamboj performed those with aplomb.

Only QCI certified to be appointed yoga teachers: Vij

Ambala: Health Minister Anil Vij today said the posts of yoga teacher would be advertised soon and only Quality Council of India (QCI) certified professionals would be appointed. He was addressing participants during a International Yoga Day function at the Police Lines ground in Ambala city. Vij said, “Yoga is a medium to live a healthy life. To promote yoga and ayurveda, the government will set up an institute on the pattern of AIMS in Panchkula. There will be yogshalas in every village across the state. The procedure to fill the posts of 1,000 yoga teacher has been initiated and only QCI certified professionals will be appointed”.  Nearly 4,000 people practiced yoga on this occasion.

Kharga Corps celebrates day

Meanwhile, Kharga Corps also celebrated International Yoga Day. The event was organised at multiple venues in Ambala Cantonment. Over 3,500 Army personnel and their families take part in the yoga session. Maharishi Markandeshwar University, Mullana, also organised a special yoga session for students and teachers at its sports complex. More than 300 NSS volunteers participated in the yoga session.
