Inviting people to join his agitation on the problems faced by farmers in Delhi, anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare has said political parties earn power for money and money for power.

Addressing a gathering in Bhiwani today, Anna said, “The political parties always indulge in the game of getting power so that they can earn money and use money to get power. The voters of the country need to understand this modus operandi of the political parties.”

Anna said, “If I want to contest elections, I would not be able to give a fight to the political parties which use money and muscle power to win over the votes. It’s unfortunate that the government has failed to fulfil its promises made to the people, especially farmers and jawans.”

He said that due to poor performance of the NDA government, he would give only five marks out of 100.

“The government claims crackdown on corruption, but laws are being amended to suit corrupt leaders and bureaucrats. Lack of debate in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha is an indication that our democratic institutions are being weakened and a kind of autocracy is prevailing in the country,” Anna alleged.

He said that the NDA government had promised to bring back black money. “Can this government reveal how much black money it has been able to bring back so far?” Anna questions.

He said that he had no plans to enter the electoral battle, but was trying to spread awareness among the people about politics and governance. He urged the people to join his ‘satyagrah’ in Delhi starting from March 23 on the issues concerning farmers and jawans.
