Railway staff on 3-day fast from May 8

AMBALA: Several Railway unions have decided to observe a three-day fast at the branch level in support of their long-pending demands.

Ambala, April 24

Several Railway unions have decided to observe a three-day fast at the branch level in support of their long-pending demands.

All-India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) general secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra on Tuesday said the unions had decided to observe a three-day fast from May 8 to 10 in support of their demands. “Nearly 6 lakh employees across the country would participate in this fast. Disruption of rail traffic is not our motive, but we will ensure that the maximum number of employees take leave and participate in this protest,” he said.

“The government had assured us to consider our demands, but there is nothing on the ground,” he said. — TNS
